Title IX

The University of Maine at Farmington prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex – and so we have a number of policies in place that prohibit discrimination, procedures to address any instances, and measures to prevent recurrence.

Title IX: Promoting Safety, Equity, and Respect

UMF is committed to fostering a campus where every student can learn, work, and thrive free from discrimination.

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. At the University of Maine at Farmington, this includes protecting students and employees from sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, pregnancy discrimination, and ensuring equity in athletics.

UMF’s Title IX Office leads the university’s efforts to prevent and respond to sex-based discrimination. This includes investigating reports, supporting those affected, and implementing policies and education that promote a safe, respectful learning environment. Our goal is not only to address incidents when they arise but also to build a campus culture where equity and respect are the standard.
