SUMMARY:Art Exhibition: Markeith Chavous\, 'the waves and the mantram\, part 1′
DESCRIPTION:Emery Community Arts Center proudly presents the North American debut of ‘the waves and the mantram\, part 1.’ The exhibit features a multi-channel film installation by Markeith Chavous\, media artist\, poet and UMF graduate of the class of 2011. ‘the waves and the mantram\, part 1‘ is the first in a trilogy of cinematic triptychs that thread together varied narratives\, accounts\, images\, poems and documents of belief and spirituality; and the environments that surround\, impact\, and inform those beliefs. It is a slate\, an elastic model of being. This project debuted in 2023 in Scotland at the Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival’s Exhibitions Programme\, and was then subsequently exhibited in South Korea at the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA) as part of the Experimental Film & Video 2023 exhibition.  Location: Emery Community Arts Center. DESCRIPTION:ArtsFarmington  is pleased to present 2 movies with Buster Keaton: “ONE WEEK” \, a short  film\, and “SHERLOCK Jr.” the main feature. The movies will be  accompanied by musician Doug Protsik on OLD TIME PIANO. The performance will take place on Saturday\, January 27\, at 7PM in Emery Community Arts Center\, with a snow date of Sunday\, February 4\, at 7PM. \nBuster Keaton\, a silent movie actor of the early 1900s\, is a master of mime\, humor and daring stunts. In the short movie a just married couple is putting together\, in one week\, their first house from a kit\, with lots of tribulations! In the main feature Keaton plays the character of a projectionist of a theater who does double duty as custodian and\, on top of that\, is studying to be a  detective. Too much to attend to can cause  trouble! He is in love and a crime is committed by a rival… Both movies are bound to make you laugh and bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart. DESCRIPTION:Emery Community Arts Center proudly presents the North American debut of ‘the waves and the mantram\, part 1.’ The exhibit features a multi-channel film installation by Markeith Chavous\, media artist\, poet and UMF graduate of the class of 2011. ‘the waves and the mantram\, part 1‘ is the first in a trilogy of cinematic triptychs that thread together varied narratives\, accounts\, images\, poems and documents of belief and spirituality; and the environments that surround\, impact\, and inform those beliefs. It is a slate\, an elastic model of being.
