SUMMARY:ArtsFarmington Presents: UNBOUGHT
DESCRIPTION:ArtsFarmington is pleased to offer its next program “UNBOUGHT” at the Emery Performance Space in Farmington with a reception to follow at the North Church. February is Black History Month and March is Women’s HistoryMonth. This makes “Unbought” especially timely. Wells\, journalist and women’s suffrage activist; Sally Hemings\, the slave with whom Thomas Jefferson fathered six children; and Shirley Chisholm\, the first African American Congresswoman from New York and first African American woman to run for President. The title of the show derives from Shirley Chisholm’s memoir\, “Unbought and Unbossed.” \nThe musical score features jazz\, folk\, popular and classical works by African American composers as interpreted by a cellist\, pianist\, and percussionist. Admission: $20\, more if you can\, less if you can’t. All welcome\, no one turned away. Sponsored by ArtsFarmington. Free for UMF students. Youth 18 & under free through our Arts Inspire Youth program. Tickets at artsfarmington.org with a limited number available at the door. Contact: artsfarmingtonmedia@gmail.com.
