Kristie Backus

Kristie is a proud Maine native and UMF alumi. She currently works in UMF’s Mental Health and Counseling Services Office, where she is passionate about supporting students in navigating their mental health and overall well-being. Kristie particularly enjoys integrating expressive art into her work, helping students explore and process their experiences through creative expression. Outside of her role at UMF, Kristie enjoys spending time with her family, and getting outside as much as possible. Whether it’s canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing or simply being in nature, she finds peace and renewal in the outdoors.
