Performing Arts

Aaron Wyanski

Aaron Wyanski is a composer, pianist, and educator whose work explores memory, perspective, and vulnerability. His music has been commissioned by the Amaranth String Quartet, Roger Zahab, and percussionist Michael Jones; he has been a featured composer at the Hartford New Music Festival and New Music Miami, and he has been an artist-in-residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Wyanski’s experience as a performer is uniquely varied and includes concert tours with a jazz big band, regular sets at NYC’s CBGB, as well as solo recitals of standard piano repertoire. He is a devoted educator and was part of the interdisciplinary team that was awarded the inaugural Sweet Briar College/Virginia Center for the Creative Arts Collaborative Teaching Fellowship. Walking in the woods, drinking black tea, and re-watching episodes of Columbo are all integral facets of his artistic practice.
